Writers featured in individual sections are José Luis Alonso de Santos, Fernando Arrabal, Antonio Buero Vallejo, Ana Diosdado, Pilar Encisco, Cristina Fernández Cubas, Antonio Gala, Eduardo Galán, Eduardo Manet, José Martín Elizondo, Carmen Martín Gaite, Francisco Nieva, Lauro Olmo, Paloma Pedrero, Eduardo Quiles, Elena Quiroga, José María Rodríguez Méndez, Carlos Rojas, Victor Ruiz Iriarte, Jaime Salom, and Carlos Semprun-Maura. In remembering friendships over a period of four decades from the 1970s  to the present, Zatlin relates humorous anecdotes and affirms that her chosen career, that led to being both a writer of scholarly studies and literary translator, proved to be fun. Woven into her memories of these and other authors are numerous references to former students who followed the same career paths.
